JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for managing and developing the Set-Up Technician team and the Process Engineering team, as well as being responsible for supporting all production matters to ensure MPC products, systems and processes are carried out to specification. This role will continuously identify the quality assurance opportunities in systems and processes in production to prevent/mitigate defective products from being produced.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the development of new projects and managing launch of new business
  • Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime
  • Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity
  • Set ambitious production goals, setting a strong success path through team engagement and ownership
  • Identify improvement opportunities and develop systemic permanent countermeasures to resolve concerns
  • Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity areas across all product lines
  • Communicate any problems or obstacles to senior management
  • Ensure Team Members are trained and follow safe work practices and promote safety in all activities
  • Safeguard equipment from unauthorized modifications
  • Consistently communicate necessary information and develop processes to improve communication
  • Continue to develop a high-performance team in acknowledging the efforts and achievements of Team Members and promoting our Code of Conduct
  • Promote MPC’s core values and actively contribute to a positive and rewarding team environment
  • Successfully perform performance reviews on schedule
  • Promote cleanliness, organization and continuous improvement
  • Provide motivation, support and guidance to all team members
  • Manage and report on measurables/KPI’s
  • Create/update policies, procedures and work instructions as required
  • Provide scientific moulding training to the Process Engineering/Set-Up Technician teams
  • Conduct training needs assessments and develop training plans
  • Develop individual job descriptions and present additional manpower requirement proposals as needed
  • Address performance concerns and issue written warnings when appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have in-depth knowledge of all dangers and safe work practices associated with the duties within the department
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leadership
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in injection moulding
  • Post-secondary education in injection moulding, engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proven track record of successfully training Team Members in productivity and safety
  • Ability to coach and mentor Team Members
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
