Another first for MPC in 2019 seeing MPC Exhibiting at D2P. This was a new element in the marketing of Molded Precision Components, the team attending our first industry trade show participating as an exhibitor.
Why D2P?
Design 2 Part held in Schaumburg, IL made sense for MPC given its geographic location. and strength of manufacturing industry in the greater Chicago area. This event, one of 11 held around the US annually, was selected based on its targeted industry-diverse audience. Close to five thousand attendees representing engineering expertise, design and purchasing decision makers across the manufacturing sectors walked the show interacting with the 250 exhibitors.
MPC showed very well as a debut exhibitor, shipping one of our collaborative robots (co-bot) to front the show. The MPC Show-Bot was front and centre, programmed to hand out business cards to booth visitors. The show also offered opportunity to identify & engage with the other exhibiting service providers. This opened the door to new relationships and capabilities for our customers.
Tradeshows…Really?
In an era where it is said that the “trade-show” is dying as a marketing tool, the debut experience of MPC exhibiting at D2P was positive. Maybe this was due to the novelty factor… but like any growth activity, the key is how you connect the multiple elements of the marketing mix.
As a stand alone effort, there was certainly benefit in participation for MPC. More importantly perhaps, it opened our eyes as a business to the opportunities and experiences of similar service providers. There is a great deal to learn in the ‘networking’ and connectivity associated to this type of event.
The D2P show was a win-win for MPC and to complement that presence MPC also invested in the D2P Supplier Directory for 2020 – take a look at our listing. As a company we look forward to participating in more D2P events in 2020 – most likely in early Q4. Watch this space! Learn more about MPC…
