MPC Retooling Featured on CBC’s The National

Molded Precision Components was featured on CBC Television’s The National (April 5, 2020) with Ian Hanomansing. The story was a follow up on a segment that aired in late March also on The National.

In the last 2 weeks MPC and Sterling Industries under a newly formed joint venture have expedited the design, development and tooling of Shield-U; a Class 1 Medical Device for face protection in front-line healthcare and similar applications. Full scale production will be ramping over the next eight weeks to produce over 300,000 pcs per day. More information will be available shortly at www.Shield-U.com. The story featured MPC as one of many responsive and agile manufacturers that have retooled their operations to focus on production of critical Covid-response PPE.

During the interview, President David Yeaman showed the 3D printed prototype of the Shield-U product. He also announced plans for producing 16,000 shields per day before the end of April, and ramping up to 320,000 shields per day soon after. He also spoke about the scope of this project and how the MPC team has rallied to deliver not only a new product, but in addition creating an entirely new manufacturing facility by adding seven new molding machines- in what is currently the MPC warehouse.
